A house in a tropical garden
A fair-faced concrete volume set in a tropical garden, taking the humidity and shade of the plot as its main material. The upper floor cantilevers past the ground floor to make a deep veranda; timber louvres cut the sun; a lotus pond and stone steps at the base cool the air before it reaches the rooms.
Only three materials repeat: concrete cast in place with the formwork grain left visible, timber for the louvres and veranda soffit, and planting — treated as a second skin of the building rather than decoration added afterwards.
The set covers visuals on every side, elevations, and assembly details specifying materials, finish colours and how the layers meet — drawings made to be built from, not to be looked at.
